CBCT Lecture on Endodontics and Hands-On Workshop

CBCT Lecture on Endodontics and Hands-On Workshop

Guest Talk in collaboration with QST Technologies

Lecture Synopsis

Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) has become an indispensable radiographic modality for dentists, providing high-quality, accurate three-dimensional (3D) representations of maxillofacial structures. The development of CBCT has highlighted the inadequacies of conventional radiography which are compressions of 3D anatomy, geometric distortion, and anatomical noise. Needless to state, clinicians should have a thorough knowledge of CBCT before prescribing/using it for patients. This lecture will discuss the applications, advantages, and disadvantages of CBCT in endodontics. A variety of clinical cases will be presented to the audience to provide a holistic understanding of CBCT in Endodontics.

Lecture Outline

  1. Fundamental principles and concepts of Cone Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT) (30 mins)
  2. Enhancing Root Canal Treatment through CBCT: Unveiling the Three-Dimensional Unveiling (30 mins)
  3. Endodontic Complexities: A CBCT-Based Clinical Case Discussion (90 mins)
  4. Insightful Exchange: Engaging in a Dynamic Q&A Session on CBCT in Endodontics (30 mins)

Hands-On Workshop Synopsis

CBCT has become an indispensable radiographic modality for dentists, providing high-quality, accurate 3D representations of maxillofacial structures. This workshop will enable the participants to understand the ways to manipulate the images using the software for CBCT. The hands-on will provide a practical approach to understand the interpretation of various clinical scenarios in endodontics including complex anatomies, missed canals, perforations, instrument separation. Each participant will provide with these cases and guided to view all the required views to formulate an appropriate treatment plan.

Hands-On Workshop Outline:

  1. Practical Applications and Demonstration of CBCT in Endodontics (20 mins)
  2. Demonstration of Manipulating of the 3 CBCT planes to interpret the information (20 mins)
  3. Decoding Information: Advanced CBCT Image Analysis in Endodontics (30 mins)
  4. Manipulation of CBCT Images using CBCT Software by participants (90 mins)
  5. Interactive Session: Q&A and Assessment of Understanding (20 mins)
