State of the Art of Porcelain Laminate Veneer Treatment
Guest Talk in collaboration with QST Technologies
Lecture Overview
Comprehensive dental treatment with porcelain laminate veneers goes beyond merely enhancing one’s smile. It has a profound impact on both the aesthetics and function of the whole stomatognathic system, while also having a significant psychological impact on the patient. This presentation will provide a step-by-step workflow for indirect minimal-invasive all-ceramic restorations in all three modes: analogue, digital and hybrid. Involving more time devoted to diagnosis and treatment planning, the new rational results in increased predictability and efficiency of treatment.
Discussion Topics
- Thorough pre-treatment diagnostics including functional assessment, which is vital to
proper case selection. - The use of digital tools to enhance the determination of new tooth-form, size and
setup. - The importance of establishing solid communication between the patient and
members of the treatment room. - The use of silicone guides to facilitate minimally invasive tooth preparation (but this is
heavily dependent on the correct execution of all previous steps). - The importance of attention to detail when it comes to veneer-cementation.
Lecture Program
The hands-on session aims to guide participants through every technical step of laminate veneer treatment. The presenter will first demonstrate each step on screen, followed by a discussion with participants. Thereafter, all participants will perform these steps on training models under supervision.
It is important to note that the silicone keys are crucial as they are the only means of transferring the information from the wax-up to the mouth. Inaccurate keys will lead to insufficient aesthetic-functional evaluation of the wax-up and result in the wrong shape of teeth preparation, leading to failure in the final veneer fabrication. It is important to recognise that these keys are not just ordinary pieces of silicone; they must be fabricated with the utmost precision and cut in a specific way to allow evaluation of tooth substance reduction in all directions.
